Nashville Renaissance

This is a bit weird for me. I'm staying at the Nashville Renaissance. It's not quite swanky-swag but it ain't the Super 8 either! It's a fixture of downtown Nashville and has been well-utilized by the music industry for years - in ways beyond parties and events! Twenty-one years ago I roamed these "hallowed" halls NOT looking for my room or the suite of my manager or A & R team. Nope. As a starving musician, I prowled these halls looking for trays sitting outside of rooms so I could scarf-up leftovers!

I quit Nashville in 1989. That was the day the music died. Fast-forward about twelve years - in my basement, in the coffeehouses of Baltimore, in Way of Life Community Church (mywayoflife.org) - something started happening. The music was being born . . . again.

And here I am at the Renaissance - French for rebirth. Did I mention this is weird for me? I'm a bit nostalgic, sad, hopeful, delighted. Sounds like I'm in the mood to write some tunage!

Peace and love!
