As a pastor, I am constantly speaking to a live audience. And if that is not enough, I drone incessantly to an online audience as well. You'll find my mug and muddle on vlogs, blogs, tweets and other "social media" forums. I can't help myself! I'm a "teller". I tell people stuff.
Lately, however, I've been much more extemporaneous, especially in my live audience formats. I've been teaching from the heart. Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). I have some heart-stuff ... in abundance. That heart-stuff is the subjects and topics that fascinate me, things I've studied and stewed on for years. It's the stuff that resulted from probing, provocative questions propelling me into seasons of deep research and contemplation. It's the stuff about which I'm irreversibly, unabashedly passionate!
And I must say, I've been having a Hee-Haw time! It's not that I was never extemporaneous in my delivery. It's not that I forced myself to speak only on things about which I was dispassionate. It's just that I've had an epiphany. Like ... it's time to say THESE things. Like ... I've been released to go HERE ... NOW. And I'm lovin' it!
I don't know if this makes sense to you but it does to me. I'm following my heart and having a blast!
Peace and love my beloveds!
